Interactive learning materials developed by Lucid have won the prestigious Innovation in Safety Award at the annual Railway Industry Innovation Awards.
The award, sponsored by Alstom, recognises technological or process innovation that can be demonstrated to have improved safety standards and performance in the rail industry. This year the award goes to the training CD Safety Critical Communications: Interactive Course for Assessors, and the supporting website railscc.co.uk.
The CD and the website were published by the Rail Safety & Standards Board (RSSB) in October 2004 and have been enthusiastically received in the industry. The CD has four learning modules with over 50 interactive exercises. The website gives everyone in the rail industry access to the latest news and events, as well as a wide range of briefing materials.
Lucid continues to work with RSSB and the cross-industry SCC focus group to provide effective training and briefing materials and to raise the profile of communications as a key professional competency for people on the operational railway.
The Railway Industry Innovation Awards are organised by the Railway Forum and the Modern Railways magazine. They recognise and give publicity to the great amount of innovation that is taking place on Britain’s railways.
