When the Railway Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) commissioned Lucid to create an online toolkit for safety briefings, they had not expected registration numbers to hit 500 within two years.
The briefer’s toolkit is in a secure area on tracksafety.info where those responsible for delivering rail safety briefings can register to access tools to help them deliver clear briefings and key messages with impact.
Once registered, the briefers can access photographs, puzzles and support notes to accompany DVDs and videos. The content is updated regularly to comply with safety protocols.
Project Manager, Mick Stormonth explained: “The toolkit’s success has surpassed all expectations. It is used daily and more people sign up each week. Briefers are crucial in delivering messages that help maintain safety on the railway; I hope the material in the toolkit increases their effectiveness.”
Mick added “Network Rail is to take ownership of the site, and from January there will be a new Projects Safety Leadership Group area. This will enable users to check the status of the Safety Improvement Team’s projects and download resources to help in the implementation of the new Work Package Plans; the replacement for the old Method Statements improvements.”
