The 21st Century Professional Driver, an interactive DVD produced by Lucid, received a High Commendation at the Rail Industry Innovation Awards 2007.

The DVD provides Britain’s train drivers and on-track-machine operators with guidance on lifestyle and self-management. The DVD combines 30 minutes of video and animation with interactive exercises to address topics such as managing shift work and fatigue, getting support for personal problems and maintaining concentration while driving.

Featuring drivers from across the industry, the DVD takes an open and honest approach to issues that that are very real but not always easy to discuss in the workplace.

Financed by the Rail Safety and Standards Board, the DVD has been a great success. 4,000 copies have been distributed to the industry, and feedback from drivers has been overwhelmingly positive.

The Railway Forum/Modern Railways Rail Industry Innovation Awards promote achievement in innovation in a range of areas such as safety, engineering and people development. 2007 was the ninth year of the awards, with a record number of entries.
