Demand is still extremely strong for the 21st Century Professional Driver DVD and Assessing Safety Critical Communications CDs, both produced by Lucid over a year ago.

The training CD for assessing safety critical communications was originally commissioned by Network Rail: 1000 copies were initially published in 2005. Its success led to further reprints in 2006 which were distributed across the whole industry, and its popularity continues to soar. Recently both Network Rail and Rail Safety and Standards Board have requested 1200 more copies of the CD in total.

The popularity of the interactive training DVD, The 21st Century Professional Driver, for Britain’s passenger and freight train drivers and On Track Machines (OTM) operators, also continues to rocket. The start of this year has seen requests of 1250 more copies from different train operating companies.

Commissioned by the Rail Safety and Standards Board in 2006, the DVD combines 31 minutes of illustrations, animations, videos and interactive exercises. It addresses topics such as managing shift work and fatigue, getting support for personal problems and maintaining concentration while driving.

After its initial print run of 2500 copies, Lucid were flooded with requests on a daily basis for the DVD. It is now in its 5th print run with well over 5000 copies having been distributed, and there do not seem to be any signs of the demand slowing down.
