Following the success of the interactive PTS training DVD for operational staff, a General Version has now been released.
Lucid was commissioned last year by the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) to develop the PTS DVD, which provides full training and assessment materials for a two day personal track safety course for TOCs, FOCs and IMCs.
The interest generated since its launch in September 2007 however, led to a large amount of applications for the DVD from organisations who do not operate on the UK mainland railways.
To provide these organisations with access to the safety training tool, RSSB commissioned Lucid to produce a General Version of the DVD. Like the Assessment Version, the General Version of the DVD covers all aspects of personal track safety, including topics such as railway infrastructure and signage, safety systems of work and emergency actions.
Intended as an educational tool for individuals who either interface with the railway or have a general interest in personal track safety, the General Version includes handouts and exercises, but does not include the examination papers or model answers.
