PTS DVD Shortlisted for SHP Award

The PTS DVD, an interactive training DVD produced by Lucid for the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) and the Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC), has been shortlisted for an award at the SHP IOSH Awards 2008.

The DVD was entered for the Partnership Initiative of the Year, which was open to joint projects between organisations that have been successful in raising health and safety awareness and standards in the workplace.

A cross-industry group, including Virgin Trains, Jarvis, Northern Rail and Colas Rail, was set up and worked closely with Lucid during the production of the DVD, which provides a comprehensive training and assessment package for a two day course on personal track safety for operational staff.

21 companies have adopted the course as their preferred personal track safety training course, including the Metropolitan Police, and over 100 individual trainers have ordered the DVD. So much interest was generated by the course that a General Version was produced without the exam papers, for companies that are not governed by Britain’s Railway Group Standards. 24 companies have since adopted this version for training purposes.

The SHP awards were launched last year to promote achievement in innovation, excellence and best practice within health and safety. Four other companies have been nominated for the Partnership Initiative of the Year award; the winner will be announced on Wednesday 8th October, at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London.
